Founders

The Yoga Centre was founded by three yoga teachers and friends – Tina-Marie Aghiana, Zoe Zephyr and Kate O’Leary. The vision for the centre is to provide an available space to teachers and practitioners that is dedicated to the body and mind.

The Yoga Centre model is based on an Artist-Run-Initiatives, as seen in the creative sector in Australia and abroad. Artist-Run-Initiatives (ARI’s) encourage alternate venues for the presentation of contemporary art, art that is challenging and not mainstream, they are also a place for developing networks between artists and the public. The Yoga Centre is a dynamic venture that supplies a space for hire for Yogis to present classes that are dynamic and individual as each instructor. The Yoga Centre provides a hub for solo teachers and practitioners to connect and be part of a wider network and community.

Kate O’Leary and Zoe Zephyr are both artists and have worked extensively in arts administration, previously collaborating on the Adelaide hills Artist-Run-Initiative: Seedling Art Space, the only eco gallery of its kind in Australia from 2008 to 2012.

Tina-Marie and Zoe Zephyr completed a yoga teacher training together in 2010 and continued a friendship, sharing ideas, teaching and practices.

Through multiple coffee meetings and brainstorming sessions Kate, Zoe and Tina-Marie created the business model for a new and fresh yoga studio in Adelaide, The Yoga Centre is a unique community project; aiming to provide non-secular and affordable yoga and health services by engaging with educated, experienced teachers and practitioners.
